今日はまさに灼熱のアフリカをテーマにした、楽しい曲をお届けいたします。
ライオンは寝ている
南アフリカのズールー族の言語によって1939年に書かれた歌が原曲だそうです。
アメリカのフォーク・シンガーであるピート・シーガーを含む男女混声グループ
ザ・ウィーヴァースがカバーして52年に発表すると、全米の１４位のヒットとなりました。
1961年に新たに英語詞によるヴァージョンをザ・トーケンズが歌い、全米１位のヒットとなりました。
気になる歌詞ですが、冒頭の部分はおそらくズールー族の言語のような気がします。

単純ですけどなんか楽しい曲ですね。でも歌詞を見ると「今夜はライオンは寝ているが、」
明日には目が覚めて、、、どうなるのでしょう。
ちなみにライオンも「チュール」が好きだそうです。
